Umang Mistry
Umang Mistry is the Founder and Principal of Honest Capital Group, a private real estate investment firm focused on high-barrier-to-entry, cash-flowing hospitality assets across the United States. With nearly two decades of experience in hotel operations, development, acquisitions, and franchise growth, he has structured, raised and deployed over $60 million across 19 hotel investments in the past three years with 170+ repeat accredited investors, partnering with brands including Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, Wyndham, and Choice Hotels.
Before founding Honest Capital, Umang held senior leadership roles with some of the world’s largest hospitality companies. At Choice Hotels International and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, he earned multiple President’s Club and Developer of the Year awards, leading multi-state development territories and building one of the strongest hotel pipelines in the country across brands such as Wingate, Baymont, Days Inn, Super 8, Travelodge, Howard Johnson, Econo Lodge, and Rodeway Inn. Most recently, as Regional Vice President of Franchise Development for Sonesta International Hotels, he helped expand the brand across California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Hawaii, and Canada.
His foundation in hospitality began at age 13, managing his family’s motel. That hands-on experience still shapes his investment approach: strong fundamentals, disciplined cost control, and downside protection. Today he pairs that operating background with institutional relationships, experienced operating partners, and best-in-class brands.
At Honest Capital, Umang takes an investor-first approach built on transparency, aligned interests, conservative underwriting, and clear communication. Rather than a one-size-fits-all model, the team works to understand each investor’s objectives and risk profile, with the aim to under-promise and over-deliver.
